Nike’s ‘Gold Digging’ T-Shirt Stirs Up Controversy

Nike did it again with a new slogan; however, I’m not too sure if they will be winning any rewards   Nike revealed their newest T-Shirt with the slogan ‘Gold Digging’ on the front.  According to Nike they created the shirt to support the women of Team USA who brought home 45 gold medals (more than the men by the way).  The shirt is only available in women’s sizes and it’s sparking controversy because of the slogan ‘Gold Digging’ and the fact it’s only made for women.

Personally, I don’t see the big deal about it.  First and foremost, for the people getting upset about the ‘Gold Digging’ slogan, let’s be real, there are gold diggers out there, but it’s not like that’s what Nike is trying to do.  They are trying to give props to the women that rocked the Olympics and I think it’s a good idea.  Not to mention, I think the shirts are cute as heck.  I mean it’s not like the shirt is like the Adidas slave sneakers.

What do you think?  Dumb slogan or smart marketing move?
